![]() The physical space invites creativity with the way materials are displayed throughout the large building in Reggio Emilia. REmida is a beautiful environment in a nice area that is welcoming. Recycling centers might be unpleasant places connected with landfills in some communities. They packed their shopping carts full of endless possibilities to use in their classrooms and services for children and their families. The day we visited there were several teachers who got off work at 4pm on Thursday and were shopping the REmida Center for their classes. Teachers have unlimited use with their annual membership meaning they can take anything they want from REmida. A membership to REmida costs Italian educators about 40 euros (which would be less than $50 USD for conversion rate in 2023 when I write this) for the year. King Midas had a special gift of turning things into gold - the “Midas touch.” Giving new life to things is the point of REmida for teachers. RE (means king in Italian and also it represents the initials of Reggio Emilia) + Mida is based on the idea of turning trash to treasure. For example, fashion houses like nearby Max Mara donate textiles that would otherwise be thrown away. REmida is a place where businesses donate their surplus materials and resources for teachers. In the tradition of the atelier, artistic expression in childhood is enhanced when early childhood professionals have resources. It is a center devoted to providing materials for early childhood educators. Many community-based programs exist in Emilia-Romagna that have meaningful contributions for professionals working with young children. REmida is a beautiful place full of opportunity.Įntities outside of Reggio Emilia schools support early childhood education in this region of Italy. The vibe gets darker and the mood gets heavier on standout track “Rip Out the Darkness,” where a chuggin’ swamp blues riff disintegrates into a deep-space spiral, Capps switching between full-octave falsetto and a hoarse yell. ![]() ![]() “Gettin’ Better” kicks things off with a jangly, feel-good two-stepper, punctuated by free-flow slipstream percussion and glimmering modular synth refractions. And well, it’s only gotten weirder every day since then really, but NASA Country’s here to spread cosmic posi vibes, even if every sprint around the sun lands us in stranger territory…įrom the jump People Are Beautiful sounds like dialing in to an alien wavelength, trans-dimensional frequency hiss being a major part of the album’s total feel. People Are Beautiful, the final installment of the “Shadows Trilogy”, was written in the early days of the pandemic, when the light at the end of the tunnel was very dim indeed, and recorded in December 2020 at legendary border-town studio Sonic Ranch during peak uncertain times. ![]() Capps & NASA Country are moving in slow motion through low orbit, gettin’ ready to tractor-beam their latest album down to earth.
